Nostalgia in the tower museum at Schönburg Castle
During the main season, the museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to approximately 2:00 pm.
During the off-season, our tower museum is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am.
Monday is a day of rest.
The ancient rooms of the double portcullis gate tower tell visitors their over 700-year history and reveal that Schönburg Castle was one of the few castles that could truly defend itself in an emergency! A fantastic trebuchet simulation (out of order) shows how, in the days of knights, a castle was besieged and attempts were made to destroy it. At the top of the tower, the intrepid visitor (122 steps...) reaches our viewing platform, which offers a breathtaking view of the Rhine Valley.
We look forward to your visit! Admission prices: Adults €3.00, Children €1.50, Families with their own children €7.00. Our hotel guests and Oberwesel residents with ID receive free admission. Prices for groups, students, and people with disabilities are available upon request.
