In October 2025, we invite you to a special art exhibition:
RHEIN!ROMANTIK? – a selection from the interactive art project that explores Rhine romanticism between past and present.
An Overview of the Project
RHEIN!ROMANTIK? is more than just an exhibition: since 2019, local artists from the Upper Middle Rhine Valley have been presenting their works in changing formats at various locations. The project highlights historical and contemporary romanticism along the Rhine and encourages reflection on its significance for our present time.
For October 2025, we have curated a small, exclusive selection of these works—specifically designed for spaces with limited capacity. Under the title “Rhein!Romantik en passant,” photographs of original paintings will be displayed alongside original photographs. The exhibition will be on view daily from October 1 to 31, 2025, at the Burgbistro on Schönburg.
Accompanying Readings
In addition to the exhibition, readings will take place on three Saturdays in October, addressing Rhine romanticism in a similar manner:
October 11, 2025
3:00–3:45 PM: Alfred Rosen
3:45–4:30 PM: Susanne Enderwitz
October 18, 2025
3:00–3:45 PM: Ingrid Leonhard
3:45–4:30 PM: Walter Karbach
October 25, 2025
3:00–4:30 PM: Karl Josef Perscheid
Alfred Rosen is a crime author with a strong connection to the history and environments of the Middle Rhine Valley. Susanne Enderwitz, a retired Orientalist, connects Rhine romanticism with literary excursions into the East. Ingrid Leonhard tells history lively and humorously, covering topics such as Burg Rheinfels, Blücher's crossing of the Rhine, and regional traditions. Walter Karbach focuses on the history of the Middle Rhine Valley in his publications, covering personalities, traditions, and Jewish culture. Karl Josef Perscheid presents historical postcards related to the Loreley and examines the development of tourism and representations of women over the decades. Admission to the exhibition and readings is free.
