Discover the Tower Museum in Oberwesel.

High above the picturesque Rhine Valley stands Schönburg – a place full of history, mysteries, and magnificent views.
In the heart of this medieval fortress, the tower museum invites visitors of all ages to embark on an exciting journey of discovery.
The imposing double-grate gate tower tells tales of a time when Schönburg was one of the few castles that was actually defensible. The historic rooms bring the turbulent past to life. Particularly impressive is the stone-throwing simulation, which demonstrates how castles were besieged and attacked in the Middle Ages.

Interactive experiences for young and old
In addition to the slingshot simulation, the museum offers more interactive stations. A highlight is the crossbow shooting range, where visitors can test their accuracy.

The narrow, winding staircases convey an authentic feeling of medieval life in the castle.

Breathtaking view from the tower
After ascending 122 steps, visitors are welcomed at the top level of the tower by a viewing platform offering an unparalleled view over the Rhine Valley. A panorama that more than compensates for the effort of the climb.
